Lately we have been doing a few organised walks - these have been with friends and often clubs and groups we are involved with. Nicky adds her historical knowledge, and Syd brings his forestry and landscape expertise to these walks, and the experience is one of fun, exercise, enjoying the outdoors and a little learning for all involved!
Nicky also does walks for visitors and tourists as part of her freelance work and has decided to offer more options and has added a page on the website dedicated to this. Plaidsong Walking Tours. She regularly leads historical walks in Perth following all kinds of local history from the Inches to the sites of the old monasteries to the River Tay itself, a fascinating and ever-changing series of walks which she tailors to the interests of her visitors.
She has also taken part in guided walks sharing the life and work of the famous Perth poet, William Soutar. These are great fun walks with a little bit of poetry and even a song thrown in along the way.
Her walks around Birnam and Dunkeld have been going on for almost two years now, and she has decided to offer a few dates to see if local folk might be interested. There is one coming up on June 21st. This is a Sunday afternoon walk, pretty easy and relaxed over 2 hours. The walk starts at 2 pm, leaving from Birnam Arts in Birnam, moving along the river and on to Dunkeld. This one takes in all kinds of history from the coming of the railway to the mighty Birnam Oak and explores how Birnam played an important part in the life of Beatrix Potter. Â

If you want to join the walk, please go to our events page Walking Tour Birnam and Dunkeld and click RSVP to buy tickets – places are limited, so email Nicky if you want more info on future dates, or please ask about booking a walk for your own group, club or society.
