Burns Night 2022 - performing live!

After so much time without any events at all we were so delighted to know that our planned Burns Suppers were going ahead this year! we almost dared not post about it in case things changed but we have just returned from a fantastic weekend in London. We performed for the Caledonian Club event on Friday night and The Burns Club of London on the Saturday. Two tremendous events which were a real celebration of Burns.

We had been asked to do the Immortal Memory after discussion with our friends James Fairbairn of the Caledonian Club and Jim Henderson of the Burns Club of London. They were open to the idea of doing the Immortal Memory in song which is quite a different take on this important part of a Burns Night. We loved the challenge and really wanted to highlight the life of Burns the songster, the collector and the creator of some of Scotland's best loved songs. Incorporating songs, excerpts and music throughout our Immortal Memory proved to be an innovation not many had experienced but our audiences were delighted with the novelty of this. We also sang and performed songs which are not heard very often, something different from the usual favourites and that too was hugely appreciated.

Syd's son Andy joined us for a song, leading everyone with his clear tenor voice and we enjoyed recitations, pipers and enjoyed meeting our fellow speakers who were giving the toasts. New friends are always met at these events! We also followed up in the bar after the formal part of

the evening and had a fantastic sing song! What a great start to our year and we only hope events continue to become safer and simpler for us all.
